過去、私はここまでしか読みこみ考えなかった。国会、政治家が決めること、いや国民が決めることの怠惰の犠牲に彼はなった。
その構図を是枝裕和は書いた。
その構図は今も続く。

Continuing the introduction of the book "However" by Hirokazu Kore-eda, which is one of the books on the bookshelf at Suki-ma Kamakura, a book café in Yuigahama, Kamakura:
The Minamata disease, which is still an issue today, was being addressed by Toyonori Yamauchi, the Chief of Staff at the newly established Environmental Agency, on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Welfare. He was tasked with coordinating between the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, the Diet, and the victims of pollution. Balancing economic growth and the environment, with limited budget constraints, necessitated drawing a line somewhere and inevitably sacrificing something. Unable to do so, he sacrificed his own heart, body, and life.
In the past, I hadn't delved deeper into this. He became a victim of the laziness of the parliamentarians, or rather, of the citizens who failed to decide. Hirokazu Kore-eda depicted this scenario.
This scenario continues to this day.
