Transmission of Generations and the Individual: Pessimistic in Intellect, Optimistic in Will
The individual is born from the parent and inherits from them. Including the surroundings, there isn't much that can be decided by oneself. However, as a child and an individual, I want to ask God about what is important beyond generations.
In a church sermon, I heard the words of Antonio Gramsci, an Italian who said, "Pessimistic in intellect, optimistic in will," which struck me deeply. It was surprising to hear the words of an anti-fascist scholar, a Marxist scholar during the war, from the mouth of a priest in church. I had known about this scholar for over 30 years since I was young, through my father's library books and my own reading. My father's way of life and my way of life overlapped in the church.
